'Create-a-World' Web Sites.

By the Year 7 students of Orange 1.

Students were set the task of inventing a fantasy land full of exotic characters and creatures. In English they wrote stories and character descriptions as well as a history or back-story of their fantasy world. They learned how to create a 2D map of their land using Publisher and some even converted their land into 3D using Bryce. They also created original artwork and learned how to scan and colour them using computers. Students tied it all together by creating web pages. As you can see, the students learnt lots of skills in this process - we hope you enjoy them!

Windmill Art Work

As part of the Australian Fete held in Tokyo this year, nine of our students contributed works of art to be displayed in the foyer of the Nissay Theatre, Tokyo. The paintings had to depict their home. The display coincided with performance Twinkle Twinkle Little Fish by the South Australian Performing Arts Company, Windmill.

Claymation Group. 2005

The Claymation Group meets weekly with Mr Edwards in the computer room. Initially students were given time to explore the software (Microsoft Movie Maker and the freeware Stop Motion Animator) before being set the task of making 'Your favourite scene from your favourite movie.' Unless you have a fast connection these will probably work best by downloading them to your desktop first (Right Click > Save Target As).

Game Maker Games 2005

Game Maker is a brilliant freeware program that creates high quality video games. Students love it because of the results they can achieve. Teachers love it because of the skills being taught (particularly maths and logic problem solving) without students even being aware of it! There is a large community of educators using and supporting Game Maker with a host of tutorials and lessons available online. The first step is to download Game Maker from www.gamemaker.nl.

Here are some of the first games the Year 6/7s have created this year. For best results save the game to your desktop (Right Click > Save Target As) before attempting to play.
